Crina Coco Popescu – “Sportswoman of the Year in Climbing” and one excellence award
The perseverance and the ambition of Crina are repaid: with admiration, appreciation and awards. These days, Coco got the title “Sportswoman of the Year in Climbing” and received an excellence award for sportive activity in 2010.
Romanian Federation of Alpinism and Escalation entitled Crina, on 11th of December as “Sportswoman of the Year in Climbing” in Annual Gala held at the end of every year.
Crina was extremely honored and excited and, when she received the prize, she declared: “I honestly thank the authorities from Federation and The National Authority for Sport and Youth for this award that they gave me. It’s a real pleasure to see that my performances are recognized and this thing helps me go on, especially now that I’m about to leave in Antarctica. It’s also an honor and a rare occasion for me to be next to the best climbers, to know them better and to talk about our projects and accomplishes.”
Horia Colibăşanu was also rewarded for the first Romanian climbing on Ananpurna peak (8,091 m) in Himalaya.
In the Transylvanian Sport Gala, celebrated on 15th of December, Crina received another distinction: the excellence award for sportive activity in 2010, given by the National Authority for Sport and Youth via Brasov County Department. Coco was entitled the best sportswoman in Brasov. Her coach, Ovidiu Popescu, was also awarded.
